It would be an understatement to say that we are under hard times. Economic or financial problems plague many of us and we cannot deny the fact that the number of people who are getting directly affected are increasing by the day. Despite all of these troubles, we have to accept them as reality. We have to face these problems and attempt to survive each day by not only tightening our belts around our waists but also by being wise when it comes to the way we spend money. Thanks to a lot of technological advances, we can now save not only time but also money. One such example of this kind of technological advancement are VOIP telephones. These modern-day phones set the big difference between spending big for communications on one hand and spending just a fraction of the usual cost on the other.
Here are some important facts that you need to learn about the VOIP technology:
1. VOIP means Voice over Internet Protocol.
The main concept behind voice over internet protocol is the use of internet lines to connect one person to another. This is mainly used in place of the traditional telephone lines that are connected via wires and poles. It is also different from the cellular phone technology.
2. VOIP technology are improving day by day.
You do not have to worry about a kind of experimental technology that can go bust anytime. Since VOIP uses internet technology and connections, you can expect it to be as reliable as the internet connection you have in your area. The best thing about it is that you can expect it to become better every single day as the internet still plays a major part in our lives.
3. This kind of technology is downright affordable.
What puts VOIP telephones ahead is the fact that they are highly affordable. In fact, the amount of money you pay for a VOIP phone and service is a very small fraction of what you pay for either your home phone or your mobile phone. In some cases, you only get to pay for your internet service and the handset price. This means that you can make any kind of calls without paying as much as the price you pay for your regular home or mobile telephone bills.
4. This kind of technology brings you closer to anyone within your area, within the country or even abroad.
There is practically no limit to the location of the person you can connect to. You can contact those who use regular home phones, mobile phones and even other VOIP phones. You can make long distance and international calls. For any of these calls, you are free from any high fees.
5. Your budget will always be enough.
You will not have to think of a telephone bill that would take much of your monthly budget. You would not even think of limiting your calls just to cut back on calling bills. With the use of VOIP telephones, you can be assured that your budget, however small, can fit without having to sacrifice the number of calls you can make or the quality of the calls you have.

The VoIP stands for the voice over internet protocol. One can really not neglect this topic in today’s market. You must be quiet astonished by seeing that various business firms are able to present the toll free number and we all know that the international calls are so costly. Yes, it is right that the international calls are expensive but not the VoIP. The VoIP are quiet cheap and the people are able to make at international calls at reduced rates.
Let me first explain that how the VoIP works. I must tell you that the VoIP works through internet. The protocol used is the internet protocol and the rate is not more than the local call. All the facilities like call transfer, call waiting, three ways calling as well as the return calls are some of the facilities which are provided by the VoIP. However the biggest facility which the VoIP provides is the cheapness.
Can you imagine who is making the best use of the VoIP at present? It is really the young boys and girls to some extent. But the major and more important use is being enjoyed by the business firms. Most of the companies are now global. Majority of them have the firms in the other countries. You can take the example of the Microsoft. Microsoft has its offices throughout the world. Just think what will be its expenses if it uses the traditional style of phone calls. It will definitely be a very expensive affair for them.
I also feel for those boys and girls who have their friends abroad. They can really not afford the international call rates for talking to their friends.
For all of them either they are the international business owners like call centers or they are the young boys and girls, they all really find VoIP a blessing when they have to do the phone calls.
Since the VoIP uses the internet lines hence they can be used with the help of a PC, lap tops or even the palm tops from you room which can be in an urban city or in an area which is situated in some remote places. In fact you call anybody from anywhere. You can also use the traditional telephones. But you will need an ATA or analog telephone adapter for this purpose.
This is one of the very important uses of the VoIP. I really feel this has been one of the biggest discoveries in the field of the internet technology. You can also term it as the biggest gift of the internet to the mankind. Hence I really feel that this is a major break through and you should take advantage of VoIP.

What is VoIP Technology?
November 28th, 2009
You may have heard the term Voip used a lot in the media, but are not sure what everyone is so excited about. Here you will find the answers to your most sought after Voip technology questions.
What is Voip technology?
Technically, VOIP is Voice Over Internet Protocol, or voices traveling over internet lines and wires like other information would. So, what does this mean to you? A lot. Even if you don’t have a clue what Voip technology is, you may still be utilizing it everyday if you have a digital phone line or if you use a microphone hooked into your computer to speck to others while you are connected to the internet.
What is Voip technology going to do for me?
Digital phone and services like it keep costs down for the company, which is passed on to the
consumer. It is usually much cheaper then a traditional land phone line, especially if you want extras such as caller ID and call forwarding.
What is Voip technology going to lack?
As great as Voip technology may be, there are some drawbacks that one using it for your phone service should realize. First, most digital phone companies do not provide access to emergency assistance numbers, such as 911 for those in the US. This may leave your household vulnerable if you use digital phone. Some consumers overcome this by keeping a basic plan with there traditional phone company provider or have a cell phone available in case of an emergency.
Another drawback to Voip technology in the form of digital phone is that if your power goes out, so does your phone. When you have a service through a traditional phone company, you can still access your line even during power outages as long as you do not need a second power source to run it (ex: cordless phones need a second power source to run, so when the power goes out so does your phone). This is not so with digital phone. However, once again having a basic plan with your traditional phone company or having a cell phone on hand may remedy this problem.
What is Voip technology overall?
Voip technology can be an asset to anyone. It keeps the cost of having a land phone line cheap while still allowing us to communicate verbally without having to rely solely on cell phones. The next time you are taking a look at your high-price phone bill from your phone company, take another look at digital phone and Voip technology in general. You may rack up savings that you never even knew existed.
