If you have a good connection and access of Internet, then you can make a digital quality of a cheap, and sometimes free, phone with unlimited access. Introducing VoIP, a voice transmission over Internet access technology that is brings you an unlimited call. To start making and using this technology is very easy. All you need to have is a computer with Internet access and a headset or microphone. With those tools only, you can start to make the unlimited call with VoIP. Using this technology, you will save more cost for phone and calling, also you are taking the advantage of Internet telephony revolution today.

The VoIP technology is able to transmitting the voice to all over the world. However, the telecommunication providers in the world are sometimes not able to transmitted voice over the world wide, but certain countries only. But, there are several providers that are able to transmit your voice. It is an unlimited technology, but it will cost you with certain value of fare or cost.

VoIP, Voice over Internet Protocol is the future for phone service. While virtual an unknown technology a few years ago, VoIP is becoming common place. With new technology appearing here is a VoIP tutorial on the different types of VoIP.

There are several different setups for VoIP. The basic setup is a free service, normally. It is computer to computer. This is where you use your computer to call another computer and you talk with a headset and microphone connected. Think Skype, MSN and Yahoo.

These services have been around for years, but have improved greatly in their technology of computer to computer VoIP. As long as the person you wish to speak to has the same software and a high speed internet connection, you can speak with them. Next door or around the globe the call can go from your computer to someone else’s.

IP Phones are the next step. These phones have the ability to plug into the router that you use. They look like a traditional phone. They have software built in and are able to use the technology of VoIP to send and receive phone calls. Another up and comer in this category are WiFi phones. They use the technology of wireless to provide phone service. There is usually an installation fee and a monthly service charge.

ATA is the standard. ATA stands for analog telephone adaptor. When you sign up for this service you are sent a special router. This router enables you to plug in a traditional phone. The router is able to route your phone calls using the internet service you have.

There is usually a setup fee and a monthly service fee. You get many of the same service you get on traditional phones, such as caller ID and call waiting. Plans often include unlimited calls and cheaper international rates.

Whichever method you choose, ensure you read the fine print. Many of the subscription service have a contract of one or two years. If you find that it is not the service for you, you will have to pay a disconnection fee.

VoIP is the technology for the home phones of the future. Many traditional companies are starting to use high speed internet to route their calls, as it is more efficient and less costly than phone lines. Finding a provider and plan will become more competitive and technology improves.

By: Benjamin Wise

You may have heard of a new technology called Voice Over Internet Protocol, or VOIP for short, but you may not be aware of the potential that it has to change the way you use your telephone. That’s because until relatively recently, VOIP has been relatively obscure and not particularly easy to use. That’s not the case now though, thanks to the efforts of a number of companies that have refined VOIP technology and adapted it for everyday use.

In its simplest form VOIP is a technology that takes advantage of the fact that data can be transmitted long distances over the Internet without the fees that conventional telephone companies charge for long distance voice communication. This technology essentially converts speech into data that can be streamed over the Internet and then converted back into speech on the other end. The process goes both ways and is compatible with existing telephone networks.

The newer VOIP services have refined the technology to the point where it’s easy for everyone to use and offers plenty of bonus features that make it convenient for local calls as well as long distance calls. For example, when VOIP technology first became available, a computer with a microphone and speakers was necessary to use it. You could generally call someone using another computer for free, but if you wanted use it to place a long distance call to a normal phone line there was a small per minute fee. Now, all you need is a high speed Internet connection and a special router that your normal phone can be plugged into. While you can still use a computer to place calls using VOIP technology, calls can still be made without your computer being on, and you really don’t need a computer at all!

One great way that most VOIP services provide more value is by including all of the convenient features that are offered by conventional phone companies in there service plans at no extra charge. This alone saves you money above and beyond what conventional phone companies would charge for the same services. These services include voice mail, caller ID, call waiting, call forwarding, and a lot more. Best of all, you can control how you uses these services just by making changes to your account on the service’s website. You can use your computer to access voice mails, determine how you want to be informed of new voice mails, block the phone numbers of telemarketers, deny your caller ID information to people who you’re calling, block calls from numbers that don’t provide caller ID information, and much more.

There are also extra features that VOIP service can provide that are worth paying a little extra for. For example, you can get extra lines added to your account. These extra lines can be business and personal lines just for you, or one line for each member of your household. Each line can also be assigned a different ring tone, so that when they all ring though to the same handset, it’s easy to tell which line is being called just by the way it sounds. Your phone lines can also break the rules of how phones work by each having different area codes. That way if you have friends, family, or business clients concentrated in area codes other than your own, you can make it cheaper for them to call you. If you have a business, it might also be worth considering adding a toll free number.

There are so many options when it comes to VOIP technology and services, the only way to learn about them all is to go ahead and sign up.

By: Julia Hall

VoIP which stands for Voice over Internet Protocol is changing the way people think about making long distance phone calls.

VoIP uses technology that can translate analog audio signal, the signal traditionally used for telephone calls, into digital data that can be transmitted over the Internet and translated back to analog at the other end, if necessary. This technology can also be used without traditional phones, bypassing the phone company (and the outrageous fees) altogether. This technology has the potential to completely revolutionize the telephone industry offering a whole range of new choices for the consumer.

It is highly possible that this technology will eventually completely replace the traditional phone system.

There are several ways to take advantage of this new technology including both pay and free services available through the Internet. Some require purchasing new equipment to make and receive phone calls with a traditional telephone and others make and receive calls through your computer using the speakers and a microphone.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both methods with the computer method being available for free, but requiring your computer to be on and connected to the Internet in order to make or receive calls and the traditional phone method usually requiring the purchase of additional equipment and a monthly usage fee. Even with the fee, however, in most cases VoIP would prove to be a considerable savings over the standard telephone company’s bill.

Actually, there is a good chance you are already using VoIP technology without even knowing it. Many of the big-name long distance telephone service providers are already streamlining their networks using VoIP. This technology takes advantage of sending information electronically in the form of packets instead of the traditional method of circuit switching.

By using packets the information is sent only when it is created as opposed the circuit method which leaves a circuit open for the entire duration of the phone call so that there is a constant flow of information in both directions even when only one person is talking or when nobody is talking at all. Since the packet-switching method only sends actual data as it is created there is much less information “traffic” making the whole system much more efficient.

VoIP phone plans usually include all the premium services such as call waiting, caller ID, call forwarding and three-way calling in their one low (or free) fee rather than charging extra for each of these like the regular phone companies do. This provides yet another advantage for the VoIP customer.

There are even more premium features that go beyond what a standard phone company is capable of, such as filtering calls and routing specific phone numbers to either another number or a predetermined recorded message. Imagine sending all telemarketers to a “this phone is no longer in service message.”

The only potential drawback for some customers is not having access to a high-speed Internet connection. This can pose a problem for close to 50% of Americans who are still forced to use traditional dial-up connections. For the other 50%, however, VoIP is a viable alternative to the high phone bills and lackluster service they have been getting for years. The technology is still in its infancy and its popularity is likely to skyrocket in the coming years.

By: Aaron Siegel

When Alexander Graham Bell first created the telephone, I’m sure he never anticipated how far telephone service would progress. I’m sure 800 numbers were never part of the equation and VoIP toll free numbers wasn’t even a thought. The 1st generation 800 numbers began in 1967, as an alternative to collect calls. They created the service in hopes of reducing the need for paid operators. In the 21st century we’ve moved from typical phone service to VoIP services. Since the creation of the internet new technology has improved tenfold. Consumers now have an option to choose which service they would like to utilize.

VoIP is a new technology revolutionizing the world of communications. They developed the technology to allow consumers to receive and place calls over the internet, instead of using your typical phone service. The service even provides VoIP toll free numbers for businesses. The technology provides away to drastically reduce cost by helping to lower your overhead. You’ll be able to call someone half way around the world without paying the high cost of long distance. While cutting cost is paramount, the system also provides a communication experience with a richer and nicer tone. The system comes with more enhanced features and extended possibilities that your plain old telephone system (POTS). Some of the enhanced features let your phone system interact with your computer; i.e. enabling the VoIP user to receive phone messages via email. You’ll be able to receive your home voice mail via email. If you can access your email remotely, you’ll be able to receive all of your messages in one location.

Installing a VoIP line is simple as long as you have a computer, internet connection, a sound card, speakers and a microphone. Once you’ve chosen a VoIP company and purchased a program you will be given a phone number. If you are using the number for business purposes you may want to research the possibilities of ordering a VoIP toll free number. This will enable your customers and/or business partners to contact you without having to incur long distance charges. Even though the call will come over you internet system, it will not interfere with your ability to use you computer. You will have full access to all of your computer programs and files. After using your VoIP system your will never want to go back to using your standard phone line again.

By: Ruth Campbell

You may have heard the term Voip used a lot in the media, but are not sure what everyone is so excited about. Here you will find the answers to your most sought after Voip technology questions.

What is Voip technology?

Technically, VOIP is Voice Over Internet Protocol, or voices traveling over internet lines and wires like other information would. So, what does this mean to you? A lot. Even if you don’t have a clue what Voip technology is, you may still be utilizing it everyday if you have a digital phone line or if you use a microphone hooked into your computer to speck to others while you are connected to the internet.

What is Voip technology going to do for me?

Digital phone and services like it keep costs down for the company, which is passed on to the
consumer. It is usually much cheaper then a traditional land phone line, especially if you want extras such as caller ID and call forwarding.

What is Voip technology going to lack?

As great as Voip technology may be, there are some drawbacks that one using it for your phone service should realize. First, most digital phone companies do not provide access to emergency assistance numbers, such as 911 for those in the US. This may leave your household vulnerable if you use digital phone. Some consumers overcome this by keeping a basic plan with there traditional phone company provider or have a cell phone available in case of an emergency.

Another drawback to Voip technology in the form of digital phone is that if your power goes out, so does your phone. When you have a service through a traditional phone company, you can still access your line even during power outages as long as you do not need a second power source to run it (ex: cordless phones need a second power source to run, so when the power goes out so does your phone). This is not so with digital phone. However, once again having a basic plan with your traditional phone company or having a cell phone on hand may remedy this problem.

What is Voip technology overall?

Voip technology can be an asset to anyone. It keeps the cost of having a land phone line cheap while still allowing us to communicate verbally without having to rely solely on cell phones. The next time you are taking a look at your high-price phone bill from your phone company, take another look at digital phone and Voip technology in general. You may rack up savings that you never even knew existed.

By: Sandra Stammberger

The latest technology to revolutionize the world of communication is VOIP. It is indeed an affordable means of making international calls PC-to-PC. So, what all you need while making the best use of this technology to make cheap international calls?

To ensure VOIP calls you need to ascertain that the person with whom you want to talk should have:

•	A computer
•	An internet connection
•	Headset with a microphone
•	Requisite software to make calls

If you want, the service provider of VoIP will simply send an adapter which will be connected with the traditional telephone or the broadband modem by which it will be turned into a VoIP phone.

How are VOIP Calls made?

Making use of VOIP technology for making international calls is by far the easiest and the most convenient system. The headphones are plugged into the computer and both parties need to be present online at the same time, and you can easily talk to the person staying abroad.

One of the notable features is that you do not need to be required at a fixed location while making the call. You can connect to any VOIP service provider no matter where you are located.

What is important here is selecting the right service provider so that there is voice clarity and you do not face any issue while making international calls. With the best sound clarity, you can make a call both on mobile and landline at an affordable rate.

Here you have to know that if you are making calls PC to PC, it will be free of cost whereas while making calls to landlines or mobiles, it will be a chargeable amount but a low cost one via using VOIP technology.

To get the most affordable deals of making cheap international calls, always compare different VoIP providers and get the services of the one that offers cheaper tariffs and even some free calls each month.

There might be a possibility that you have to pay more prices for having an account with them. This is why you should first check the prices with the provider and compare it with others. Take your pick only after you have compared all of them and found out the cheapest one.

How expensive are these calls?
These phone calls are not expensive at all. Most of the software can be downloaded for no cost at all while others may charge you a very nominal amount. You will not be charged for the call and will be able to talk for as much time as you want. All you would have to give will be the charges for the internet connection that you normally also pay per month.

By: Erick John
