Changes in technology are opening doors and creating jobs that simply didn’t exist a few years ago. VoIP is one of those areas, and this emerging technology has produced significant changes in the way people communicate. Understanding VoIP is rather difficult for many, but the concept is actually a fairly basic one.
VoIP is the acronym for Voice Over Internet Protocol. Most commonly, the term is written as VoIP (note the small “o”), though there are many other terms that refer to this same process. Telephony is one of those terms, and Broadband telephony is another.
The idea of VoIP is too simply to create a network and then allow people to send all sorts of transmissions across that same network. Consider what that can do to the costs of communicating in some situations.
For example, a large office of a half-century ago would likely have two major methods of communication. There’d be a telephone system that connected all the desks and offices within that building – a network of telephones that may or may not have also been connected to outside lines. But what happened when those workers on the second floor needed to see a report that the workers on the eighth floor had just produced? For that situation, there were usually messengers who had the important task of physically taking those documents, messages and packages from one point in the office to another.
Then personal computers and personal fax machines became affordable and available, effectively replacing the need for messengers in most cases. Email and faxes became the norm, making it possible for those people within a specific network to instantly share those documents and reports. But there was still a need for telephones for those cases in which voice communication was necessary as well.
As technology tends to do, it was probably inevitable that the personal computers and telephones would eventually find more common ground. VoIP is that common ground.
VoIP allows data and voice streaming within a particular network. That network may or may not be limited to a specific building or company, though many companies are finding that it’s a very cost effective way of dealing with the need for data and voice streaming.
The fact that this is typically a very effective and cost effective way of communicating means that more companies are likely to be moving in this direction in the future. For those who are technically adept at understanding VoIP, this means that there will continue to be more jobs in the field. As is the case with computers, it takes some natural ability to be truly adept in this field, but there are also many schools and training facilities ready and able to offer quality programs to prepare you for a career in this field.
As more people and companies understand the potential for effective communication with VoIP, there’s likely to be more career opportunities in the field. If you’re one of those people who understand technology, computers and electronics, you may very well find that this is a perfect field for you.

VoIP – Thee Emerging Technology
November 21st, 2009Advantages and Disadvantages of VoIP Technology

What are the uses of good communication and what do they give to us? Communication is a means by which a message and information can be passed from one to another, it is a way to inherit knowledge and the experience of previous generations, by passing this information to future generations, thus progress and the ability to produce and perform. In other words it is a necessary part of our life to communicate with each other, to learn and develop new things and have the ability to discover how wonderful a world we live in!
Thus the need to create good communication began very early on, runners, pigeon post; pony express to name but a few. As man progressed and the technological age dawned the invention of the wireless and the telephone system ushered in a new age with ever increasing speeds to that which we have today brought to us by fast data streams of the internet.
All this need brought prosperity and times were wonderful and the major’s thrived BT was the king and built an empire on the back of the British telecom network. However, with government policy changes it was deemed too much of a monopoly, thus its days were numbered, then as if overnight there came the change. The major communications providers were very surprised to understand that competitors in the marketing arena were giving them a run for their money and the monopoly that had for years was gone and a level playing field born!
The birth of VoIP opened a new page in sphere of communication technologies. This very practical service works via Internet Protocol. Nowadays nobody can imagine themselves without having some calls over mobile phones or conversations over Skype per day. It is an advantage of our civilization- to get information fast and reach needed people in a rapid time. Time is money. This is a byword, but it is our reality and it is very true. Imagine, for example, a stock exchange market or diamond bourse without communication…You may lose everything or become a billionaire in a second. Here you see that every second of your time plays the leading role.
Using VoIP is really an easy thing to do: just dial and talk to all over the globe to your sister, brother or friends. If the bandwidth allows you may also turn on the video features, allowing for full media conferences. This is becoming a necessary thing for headquarters’ of companies allowing for easy and fast communications between country branches. Many close relatives can easily get in touch and feel so much more empowered having a video conversation with their beloved ones.
On the other hand the main disadvantage of VoIP is that system does not allow total security of your calls and can provoke a security flaw. Nowadays this issue is receiving a lot of development work and soon one hope a full security protocol will be available. In spite of the fact that VoIP has a disadvantage, it is very popular and required.

VoIP Requirements List – What You Need to Know Before Setting Up VoIP

VoIP which stands for Voice over Internet Protocol refers to the audio routing conversations via cyberspace or any other network which are IP-based. VoIP communications protocols or Voice over IP Protocols is used for carrying audio signals over information processing networks.
VoIP alters the whole perspective of people concerning long distance calls. In this technique, the Voice analog signals are being changed to digital information which are transferred through the Net. The basic connection of the Net becomes a way in putting telephone calls free of charge. Using VoIP software system for free is the practical way of saving money and getting around telephone companies and their whole charges.
VoIP is an advanced technology with an ability to retread the telephone system absolutely everywhere in the world.
Using VoIP for testing is not a problem because there are a lot of VoIP software systems available in the Net free of charge. All you have to do is to download and install it which takes around 3 to 5 minutes. To trial run it, you may ask a friend to do the same and check it if it’s really working. This is an excellent way.
VoIP are used by almost all telephone companies in streamlining their networks. They’re routing calls via IP getaway and circuit switch bringing down the bandwidth they’re using for long hauls. As soon as the getaway gets the calls, the other side would route, reassemble, and decompress it locally in a circuit switch.
This would take time however the current networks of circuit-switched are substituted by a technology known as packet-switching. The information networks simply retrieve and transmit data if the user requires it. It doesn’t let routing of data thru dedicated line as an alternative it lets moving of data packets through disorganized networks supplied with several possible courses. It only opens brief connections to send the packets (small piece of data) from systems to systems. This technique is really effective since packets flow through the cheapest and minimum congested lines whilst still letting both communicating computers to accept data.
VoIP technology truly makes sense both in infrastructure and economics necessities. A lot of businesses are setting up the VoIP systems and this technology can and will grow more in popularity making its way for home use. VoIP is an amazing find in bettering conventional telephone system to become really efficient and a dependable way of communication.
